The IT Kidz Code Clubs are after school computer clubs designed to introduce children to coding using both block coding (moving blocks of code to create their project) and learning new coding languages, HTML, CSS & Python.
During the club the children will use the following programs which be provided:
Scratch is a visual programming language that makes it easy for young people to create their own interactive stories, animations, games, music and art – and share their creations on the web.
Microsoft MakeCode: is another example of block coding, similar to Scratch, with MakeCode we can create fun arcade games.
HTML & CSS are the foundation of the web, and as such are excellent first programming languages to learn, while learning to design stylish, colourful web pages.
Python is a versatile language than can be used to make many different types of programs, from word processing to web browsers. Lots of elements that are used in Scratch are also used in Python – they just look different!
Each week the children will build their Coding skills. Course Online is as follows:
Week 1: World Wildlife Day – Animal Crossing Scratch Game & Arcade Frog Game
Week 2: International Woman’s Day – Code Your Hero with Scratch & Design a Web Page
Week 3: St. Patrick’s Day – Shamrock Patterns in Scratch & Create Patterns with Python
Week 4: Mother’s Day – HTML & CSS Certificate Page & Code a Card in Scratch
Week 5: World Children’s Book Day – Silly Sentences in Python & Code a Story in Scratch
